As of the beginning of January, I FINALLY got to come up to BYU-Idaho and there is only one statement that somes it up: I love it!!! College has been so good to me so far. I have some of THE funnest roomies, one of which I happend to know from Twin Falls but had no intention of rooming with, however, it all has worked out for the best and now we're room roommates. It's so fun having girls to share clothes, jewelry, and fashion ideas.
As many of you know the weather in Rexburg is notorious for miserably cold winters. Ummm I haven't noticed! It's been a surprisingly mild winter with maybe only two or three of those wretched days. I'm most definitely not complaining though....I can't wait for spring time! I hear it's the funnest time to be here at school, not to add it's my favorite time of year.
oh the homework and classes?? lets not speak of that.
ha but really it's not that bad. I do like most of my classes and I love the schedule I made. I have a lot of time between classes which is nice because then I'm able to split up my homework. I spend a majority of my day on the 2nd floor of the library. That's where it's at yo. (in reality it's the "quiet floor" and that's probably why I like it so much) I also have one roommate, specifically Emily, who practically lives here and introduced me to this love. My favorite class would probably be Beauty and Creativity which is a humanities class but we study the development of the arts throughout history. It's so intriguing. It may help that the teacher just has a way of making you WANT to listen too.
It's crazy to think just how many friend's I have made here. Me...make friends?? I didn't really expect myself to make as many as I have since you know...I'm Jessica. I'm quiet, more reserved, not the go getter kind of person but there's plenty of people here you can't help but make friends. Most of this is due to my roommates (did I mention how awesome they are and I love them?). They know TONS of people and so we always have visitors. I'm also glad for my close neighbors who are my life long best friends: Kambrie and Kaycee. It's so nice to see them as often as I do!
My exciting First weekend of College went like this:
My roommates and I went to Megan's cabin in the Palisades, which is about an hour away, for a weekend trip. I had heard just how much fun the cabin was so I was definitely excited. Friday night consisted of a yummy dinner and one eventful game of High Stakes Old Maid haha lets just say by the end of the night someone had to sleep in a motorcyle helmet, run around the cabin barefoot, get pelted defensively with ping pong balls, and get a swirly. Lucky for me I was only an observer.
The next day we went off for an Ultimate sledding run. We grabbed our tubes and went off to slide down the trail which is the road that leads up to the cabin. Emily and I were the rookies at all of this so we ended up going last. We connected to make a train and down we went. After the first turn we made a 180 and began going down the trail backwards. Little did we know that we had accumulated enough speed that by the 2nd turn we used the berm as a ramp and launched off the side of the mountain. Once again I remind you we were going backward so I had no knowledge to even anticipate what happend next. The next thing I knew was that I had a tree in my face. Literally. It took me a while to unjumble my head and comprehend what just happened and why we suddenly stopped, why my face was throbbing, and why I happened to be smashed up against a tree. I tried to move out of this uncomfortable position but I found it difficult since I was wedged between the mountain side, my tube, and a rather solid tree. I also discovered that is was more than my face that hurt but I also manage to sprain my ankle and accumulate some rather large bruises. The sledding was done for me that day since I stayed in the cabin icing my ankle and Emily, who managed to not hit any trees, joined me mostly due to survivors guilt. The trip was fun and it was quite the adventure to start college off with, however I want to actually finish a full tubing run down the trail at Megan's cabin...someday.
As for college: bah dah bah bah baaahh I'm loving it ;]
