The weather started out drab, but the week overall has been fab! First off, I LOVE the friends I have up here and the people I know. Cassie is back and I have missed her SO MUCH! I feel like i still haven't quite been able to get enough time with her yet. we had a waffle party thursday night and it had a huge turn out! we managed to fit 50 people in our apartment. Thats a record. It was tight but not too uncomfortable. Its no big deal, we just have tons of friends. This week i also got a job which i start monday and then i found out i got the internship i REALLY wanted in southern California! i'm so happy with how things are working out and trusting in the Lord that this is the direction i'm supposed to be going.
The week break between semesters i went down to San Diego to have my internship interview as well as vacation in California for a few days. Ali came with me and it was a blast! We went to the beach of Carlsbad and it was really cold but we had bikes to ride around the town in and that was fun! we found a gem of a bookstore full of used books. Then we met up with Cassie and Danny Steenhoek for Taco Tuesday. It was fun to have friends there who also had friends so we were able to hang out and socialize in the evening. The next day we lounged in the backyard of the Farrows and got some sun and it was so fun in their pool and they had some entertaining dogs. We also got our nails done and went shopping at Tillys....its a goooood place. I was a first timer but i know i'll be back. Then we went to the Aquarium and i love things like that!
Later that night we hung out with Cassie and Danny and a few other friends from BYUI that were in the area and we went on a beach hike at night. It was really fun too. Friday was our last day there and we went to Balboa Park full of museums which i love but you had to pay for so we just walked around haha The gift shops there though......
Then Ali and I went to the Zoo! We had to park probably a mile away. no joke. but it was worth it and we saw all sorts of fun animals and managed to get a little lost a couple times.
Then we went to dinner with Danny and couple of his attractive single friends from the singles ward there;) Later we went to one of their houses that he had just bought and played ping pong in the garage. It was a good time and a great way to end the trip! The adventures don't stop there though, because "It's not about the destination, it's about the journey." -Matt Karl. Our way home through NOTHING Nevada provided us with 2 cops pulling us over, one citation, and a getting-stranded-in-the-middle-of-nowhere-because-of-no-gas scare. Luckily Saint Michael had compassion on 2 girls who were otherwise out of luck and gave us $25 to buy gas from the house that was central in the middle of nowhere and only accepted cash for the 5 gallons of gas they had on hand. Literally the central of nowhere. 80 miles to go, 60 miles back or 40 miles in another direction for a gas station. Options like that don't help when you've been driving in the car for 10 minutes with the gas light on. We owe the fact that we got home at a decent hour to Michael, the friend who was working on his motorcycle in the garage. So in the end, we had had a couple of adventures and a lot of good memories. I'm a fan of California. Not so much Nevada though....
Oh and to top it all off? it was Easter on Sunday. I didn't get to celebrate in all the ways i normally do to make it my favorite but being with my family and going to Church, remembering Christ's life and that He STILL lives is always hard to beat.
Here's to amazing friends, awaited adventures, and a good semester ahead! I'm so thankful to God for everything he's blessed me with.
